Grand Canyon

The Grand Canyon

The annual Goodman Grand Canyon Hike is no longer just a bunch of Goodmans. It's a ton of other people but so much fun. This year was an experience I never had before. It rained on us the last 6-7 miles out. The rest of the time we had great weather. We had cloud cover and cooler temps. It made for great hiking conditions until it started to rain and rain and rain. And even then it wasn't until the last 3 miles that I really wanted the rain to stop. It was neat to see the rain coming off the top of the canyon and to think that this is how the canyon was formed. I feel bad for Eileen since only my dad was there at the top to cheer on her completion. They best part of hiking is having everyone cheer for you in the end and then getting ice cream. We got none of that but we did get the sense of accomplishment that comes from hiking 24 miles in 11 1/2 hours. With the last 5 hours in the rain.

Done, sopping wet and so happy to be out.
