Memorial Day Weekend

We had a great Memorial Day Weekend. I love going up to Show Low, well actually I stress about it and then when I am there I have a blast. Ryan played in a softball tournament and went all the way to the championship game. They lost and took second place but it was way better than last year when they lost all of their games. We also had an Adams family reunion and got to hang out and play games with everyone. We even went to all three hours of church so we could be there when Rhett was ordained to a teacher. Their church was so good and I am glad we went and stayed. We had a great weekend and it was way better than last year when we got called home early so Ryan could be called as the second counselor in the bishopric.

Last day of School

The last day of school was a blast. We had an impromptu pool party at my house. We had a few families come over and all the kids swam and played. It was really fun and I can't wait for more pool parties at my house. I love having a pool!!!

Surprise Retirement Party

We pulled off the impossible. We suprised my dad with a retirement party. We had tossed around the idea of a party and my mom decided to make it a surprise. It was really hard to not tell, in fact Jay almost gave it away but I think my dad was truly suprised. It was fun to get together with all my family. We had everyone but Loren, Ryan and Austin plus my uncles and aunts and many cousins. It was hard to keep the kids quiet and inside while we waited for my dad to come home but they did it and once the surprise was over the kids all went outside. I am going to miss subbing for my dad and when I sub for other teachers I am going to miss seeing him at Stapley. He is a great teacher and will be missed by many students. In fact I had some former students write letters and it was so neat to read what they had to say about my dad. He has influenced many lives and will be missed at Stapley Junior High.
My mom and dad, and I managed to not get Julie in. She kept trying to jump in the picture but I snapped it without her. he he he.
MacGregor, Annie, Kate, Keelie, Hadlie, and Ella. I asked Gregor if we needed another boy and he said "no." He was okay being the only boy with all these girls.
Afton, Rowan, Jay, Hallie, Ty, Jack and Raulin. One team in the whiffle ball game. They played forever and had so much fun.
My Ryan riding the trike. In between innings of the whiffle ball game he would have to "drag the field." I was laughing especially when he couldn't pedel up the hill.

Grandma Goodman

My Grandma, Rita Allred Goodman, passed away on Friday. Born August 16, 1917 died May 18, 2012 she was 94 years old and returned to her sweetheart of over 70 years. I am sure the reunion with my Grandpa was sweet. He passed away over the summer. It is weird to think that I have no more grandparents. This thought makes me sad, but then I think of my grandparents who have been reunited and I know that I will see them again. Grandma was a fun and competitive person. I enjoyed going to visit her and getting her to laugh. She had a great laugh. Just this past year I went to visit her with Kate and Kate decided she was a dog so Grandma would throw this little ball that lit up and Kate would crawl to get it. Kate was playing fetch and Grandma thought it was the funniest thing. She got such a kick doing this. I remember going over to her house and playing Rook with her and Grandpa and Ryan. She was competitive and wanted to win. I can still hear her saying "Harry you better have the cards to win, you just bid high." I remember watching ball games with her and not wanting to sit next to her because when she got excited she would poke you with her elbows and she had some pointy elbows.
Grandma was a wonderful person and I know I have been spoiled having her in my life. I am going to miss her but I know she is with my Grandpa and laughing once again.

My mother's day

My mother's day was wonderful. I woke up to my boys bringing me breakfast in bed. It consisted of a bowl of Life cereal, toast, a glass of OJ and Pringles. Jay contributed the Pringles and Jack made the rest. It was really sweet of them to do this. They did this all by themselves. We then went and had breakfast at Ryan's parents house and then went to church. Church was so good. The speakers were wonderful and they really brought the spirit to the meeting and my children were so well behaved. It is always nice when my kids behave at church. During Relief Society the wonderful bishopric had cinnamon rolls and the priesthood took over all of the classes so all of the women in the ward could hang out and talk. We talked for almost the entire hour until the bishop gave a short spiritual thought. After church we went back to Ryan's parents and missed talking to Ryan's nephew by about five minutes. I think Ryan was bummed about that but he enjoyed hanging out with his family. Although he had to take Jack to Urgent Care cause Jack was not feeling well. But Jack is okay and my mother's day was awesome. I am grateful to my three beautiful children. They really enrich my life and make me a better person. I am grateful to my own mom who has taught me so much and still continues to teach me.

Kate and Jay's dance recital

Kate and Jay both had a dance performance this past weekend. It was great. Jay was a last minute addition. Miss Beverly had a brother's dance and Jay joined in. He did so good and really got into the hip hop thing. He never smiled and had that serious, kind of grouchy look on his face the entire dance. Kate was a little Irish dancer and looked so cute on stage. It is still weird to me to go to dance recitals but I know I will be going to a few more unless I can talk Kate into sports.
Kate, Keelie and Jay before the performance.

The Egg

I kept thinking my house had a funky smell and I never could figure out what it was. Was it my boys extremely stinky feet or just my boys who play outside constantly and smell like sweat and dirt? I couldn't figure it out, I would light candles and plug in air fresheners, then the smell kind of went away or I got use to it. Well today as I was putting away some cords in a seldom used drawer I found the egg that my kids lost on Easter Sunday. Now I don't know who to get mad at. Clearly the egg is Kate's but I am pretty sure it was Jay who hid it. Do I just ground them all or tell them we are done coloring eggs forever. Next year I am really going to consider plastic eggs and do my best to talk my children out of coloring eggs. Hopefully my house is smelling better soon.
