Mesa'a Summers

Summer in Mesa is HOT!!! It hits 100 degrees in May and stays that hot until September. July and August are not fun. It is always hot. But in a weird way I really like it. I like the sun. I like swimming and I really like knowing that in October when it's only 85-90 degrees winter is coming and we will enjoy sunny days of 70 degree weather. It's so nice then. Even with it being 100 degrees I still find time to go hiking. Yes, it's early in the morning and yes I'm tired for the day. But I love hiking so I still go. Here is the view from the top of "A" mountain one morning. It was a random day of rain and the humidity was about 60% but it was so nice to be outside in the drizzle. As I was hiking I was reminded about how nice I have it. I really have a very blessed life and I am grateful for my health. I really appreciate the outdoors and I always seem to have a prayer of gratitude as I am hiking. I know I am truly blessed.

Jay's Joke

About a month ago after a hike I came home and took Jack and Jay to get donuts. I figured I could eat donuts since I had hiked six miles. Anyway, Jay came up with a joke and it's been told numerous times at home. So here it is. It's actually pretty good for a 7 year old to make up.
Q: Where does the sheep get it's donuts?
A: At Baaaaaashas
We had just bought our donuts at Bashas. We still laugh when Jay tells the joke.

Funny Kateism

Yesterday driving to my in-laws for dinner Kate informed Ryan and me that her panties were wet when she woke up since she had "slept a long time." So I asked her if she had wet her bed and she said "no mommy, your bed." Ryan and I just looked at each other and laughed. Really what else could we do? Kate kept insisting though that she didn't wet the bed but that her panties were just wet cause she slept a long time. The sheets will be washed today.

Big Surf

We were suppose to go to Lake Powell for a week but it didn't go through so we took our kids to Big Surf instead. Sort of the same right?? No really we had a blast. The boys were tall enough to go on all the slides and we brought our boogie boards for the wave pool. I loved watching my kids try and catch the waves and it made me really want to go to California. I enjoyed the slides except the one that was enclosed and felt like a sauna the entire way down.
We had a great time and I am thinking next year we might have to get season passes.

4th of July

I know I have said this in the past but the 4th of July is my favorite holiday. I love watching fireworks and hanging out with my family. This year we went up to Show Low to enjoy come cooler weather and missed the only day of the summer that the high was only 90 degrees. The high won't be that low now until September. It was a fluke that it even happened on July 4th and we missed it.  Anyway back to the holiday. We drove up to Show Low on Tuesday and it was cloudy and beautiful. We got rained on on the drive and I was so happy to see rain in the mountains. On the 4th we woke up to rain and it rained off and on the entire day. At first I was a little bummed but it turned out to be a beautiful day and even the fireworks shined a little more with some rain. I know the people up in Show Low have been praying for rain and they got it. It was a nice slow drizzle that lasted all day and even a little bit on Thursday. It's just what that area needed. On the morning of the 4th we got up to go to the parade and Jack and Jay ended up being in the parade. They rode the whole time in the kayaks and threw out candy. It was weird to only have Kate at the parade and I missed out on a lot of Tootsie rolls. It was still great and I love watching the people who are so proud of our great country.
After the parade we went back to Randy's and BBQ'ed It was again so nice to be outside and watching the kids all run around and play. They rode quads, shot BB guns, and played games. It was great.
Later that day we headed to the football field to watch fireworks. It was raining to we hung out in the field house and played whiffle ball in the gym. It stopped raining for a little bit so we set up our blankets and laid down to watch the fireworks. It did start to rain but like I said it only made the fireworks sparkle a little bit more.
It was a great 4th of July and I know I am blessed to live in this great country and I have grateful for all the people who have defended our freedoms.
